Optimizing Microsoft Office
Competitive world these days demand everyone to work with uttermost efficiency. Microsoft Office though provides many features assisting users in numerous ways, however sometime those features become annoying by bugging us during the work, remember that good for nothing office assistant ball coming up every now and then on older MS-Office suites.
How dare you correct me?
If you are writing something and AutoCorrect features complete word, date or creates bullets automatically, doesn’t sound that irritating. However there are situations where you want to have freedom to write whatever you want, you are better off with such options. If you are writing an article on “The spelling mistakes students make”, you may need to mention incorrect spellings for instance “accident”. AutoCorrect will keep on correcting the spellings to correct spelling “accident”.
Limiting the AutoCorrect option is easy and hardly takes half a minute. You can turn it off for good as well. One way is to click blue icon appearing under an automatically corrected word. See the options here, select the appropriate one, it’ll rollback the correction either for current instance or forever.
For full list of AutoCorrect options you can either click the last option appearing under the autocorrected word or you can visit Word options after pressing Office button. Click “AutoCorrect Options” from “Proofing” menu item. You can see comprehensive AutoCorrect options under different tabs. You can add or remove particular words or turn “correction as you type” options as per your liking.
Where are my Menus?
Microsoft Office got rid of the classical Menu items since Office 2007. However many people still have not swallowed the absence of menus. It is not possible to bring back time, but it is indeed a possibility to get menus back. There are many internet resources which can provide the utilities, which can let you have Office2003 menu look. UBitMenu is a recommended freeware. The whole process of running this utility takes about 3 minutes.
My Normal style is Abnormal
Normal style of Office is settings of fonts, numbering, paragraph styles etc that are used by default. You can change it for any particular document, default Normal settings could also be changed.
First you need to write a paragraph containing your preferences of whatever you want different from Normal like fonts, Paragraph, borders, Language, tabs, numbering, bullet formats etc. For setting paragraph setting as default simply right-click and press paragraph, now press Default button. Now select some part of write-up and upon right-click, select Styles and choose “Update Normal to Match Selection” to update Normal settings. You can mention any Style default for future. Click Change styles under Word ribbon and in dropdown provide new style and select “Set as Default”.
Don’t show address of my Ex
When you write email address in To, Cc or Bcc fields while composing in Outlook, it shows list of names of people having similar names or email addresses. If any of the useless names are appearing, you need to spare 3 seconds life. From list of suggestion, as there can be multiple, press Delete button. The address will cease to appear again.
